On Day 2, we started in Santa Ysabel, CA and rode over the mountain into Julian. We heard rumor that Julian had delicious apple pie so OF COURSE we had to stop and pick up some for DESSERT that night. We actually were able to get an apple-pumpkin pie AND whipped cream to go on top!!
After getting over the mountain we came through a very weird rocky mountain pass and stopped at a state park for lunch. The park was closed since it is not "the season" here yet so we got semi-ran off by a ranger and had to keep riding. We ended up the night in a hole in the wall place called Octillo Wells at a closed Motorsports shop. They had a nice big parking lot and picnic tables and so it was a great stopping spot. After the 43 hot miles on the bike, it was a joy to sit outside after dark looking up at the amazing stars over the DESERT sky and enjoying apple pumpkin pie for DESSERT!

ReplyDeleteHow precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.
